The new Nissan Maxima is a luxurious four-door sport sedan. The '16 version of the Maxima received a massive exterior overhaul, leaving the vehicle with an edgy aesthetic rife with striking stylistic elements. The '16 makeover improved the vehicle's look to the point that few changes were necessary for the '17 edition. This is an upscale mid-size sedan that looks and drives somewhat like a sports car. Take a look at the new Maxima from the front and your attention will center on the vehicle's ?boomerang? style headlights and large grille. Take a look from the back and you will find a fairly tall rear end and a ?floating? roof created by blacking out of the vehicle's rear pillar.
Interior
The Maxima cockpit is quite sporty yet refined enough to make it feel like the upscale sedan it really is. The steering wheel boasts an ergonomically friendly flat bottom. Take a look at the dash and your eyes will jump to the metallic trim. There is enough space for five occupants. The seats are constructed with high density foam dubbed as ?Zero Gravity?. These seats are well-bolstered, deep and soft, providing sufficient cushioning for extended travel. The front seats are powered and available in cloth or leather.
In total, the new Maxima has 112.8 cubic feet of space. The trunk provides an additional 14.3 cubic feet of space. Paddle shifters that function as gears are optional in the SR trims.
If you are in a jam and require rapid acceleration, the new Maxima will make it happen without delay. The vehicle reaches 60 mph from a standstill in a flat six seconds. This year's Maxima is also equipped with a Sport mode that hastens responses. In terms of fuel efficiency, the new Maxima provides 30 mpg on highways and 21 mpg in the city.

The IIHS awarded the Maxima its coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation. The NHTSA gave the vehicle perfect safety scores. The new Maxima is loaded with high-tech safeguards to protect vehicle occupants as well as the vehicle itself. Standard safety features include:
