Features

Exterior

The 2018 Nissan Leaf features a floating hood, translucent grille, and sharper profile. The Leaf may have looked more futuristic in the past, but Nissan has decided to make their 2018 flagship electric vehicle look more like the car manufacturer's best sellers. The car still has some dramatic slopes, but its overall styling has been tightened up. The Leaf's hood is low enough to encourage better aerodynamics, and its projector-beam headlights ensure the driver can see everything on the road. Even the charging port has been moved up so drivers don't have to hurt their backs to give their Leaf a jolt.

Interior

The interior has been reconfigured to surpass its direct competitors, and Nissan's managed to impress even the toughest critics with all the modern amenities a driver could want. This is an advanced car, and only an advanced interior will do. Drivers may be intimidated when they first step into the car due to its impressive array of buttons and features, but its intuitive design makes it easy to master the basics and then some from right off the bat. The 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space gives drivers more opportunities to go wherever they want for as long as they want.

Technology

Along with fun features like Apple CarPlay and Android Audio, the Leaf has its own navigational software to keep you on course. The Nissan Leaf has one pedal, so you can easily brake and accelerate and it charges up quickly when you're in a rush. Just a half hour of 50 KW charging (the highest available) will net close to 90 miles of range. The NissanConnect app for your smartphones locates charging stations for your convenience. Enjoy the following available benefits from your Nissan Leaf:

  • Quick Charge Port
  • Bose Premium Audio System
  • Portable Charge Cable
  • Daytime Running Lights
  • Automatic Temperature Control
  • 7" Driver Assist Display

Performance

The car is 100% electric and gets about 150 horsepower. The biggest news is that it's managed to increase its performance from 73 miles to 150 miles on a single charge. The previous Leaf generations were excellent if you had a short commute, but the new model lets you go more places without having to fret about finding a station. Drivers also get instant acceleration as soon as they apply the e-pedal. The 100% torque allows drivers to feel the power immediately and enjoy a smoother ride.

  • 40 KWh Lithium Ion Battery
  • 110 kW Electric Motor
  • Automatic Braking
  • 147 Horsepower
  • Instant Acceleration

Besides the advanced engine choices, the new Leaf also comes with an Xtronic CVT transmission, which keeps the engine at the most efficient performance level at all times.

Safety

The ProPilot and Intelligent Mobility systems are Nissan's answers to taking the stress out of driving. The Leaf ensures the driver maintains a reasonable distance between the Leaf and the car in front of them, and can even come to a full stop in the case of an emergency. In addition to automatic braking, the 2018 Nissan Leaf has a number of available semi-autonomous features:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane-Centering Capabilities
  • Lane Departure Warnings
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Surround-View Camera
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
