Nissan made a big show of unveiling the completely redesigned 2016 Nissan Maxima, investing in an expensive 90-second Super Bowl commercial. Of course, commercials don’t really provide much in the way of details; all we got was a quick look at the car’s new aesthetic and a glance at some of its features. It wasn’t until the New York Auto Show that Nissan put all of its cards on the table, showing off the 2016 Maxima in its full glory and going in-depth on its updated elements.

With all of the hype out of the way, it’s time to actually start making cars. Vice president and general manager of Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Al Castignetti, is serious when it comes to the Nissan GT-R, fondly known as “Godzilla” to enthusiasts. He said, “A super-car as special as the new Nissan GT-R – and its owners – requires a truly exceptional level of care and handling.” And also added, “These Certified GT-R dealers are making a substantial investment in their showrooms, service tools and technician training – helping ensure that the purchase and ownership of the new GT-R will be an exciting experience for our customers, every step of the way.” Putting that attitude into action and gaining that certification is big step for any Nissan dealership because it means making a number of commitments that include certain facility and service requirements, and having a “master technician” who is not only dedicated to the GT-R, but is an expert in servicing Godzilla. Nissan Motor Corp. is making an ambitious move to bolster its place among the competition by retooling the Titan truck from top to bottom. A choice between three engines, one of them a V8 Cummins diesel, three bed lengths and two frame sizes are meant to give the Titan a wider appeal to audiences from suburbanites to construction workers. In the last model year, Nissan sold fewer than 13,000 Titan models. Facing even tougher competition from the revamped and improved offerings by the Big 3 (FCA, GM and Ford), Nissan is joining the fray by offering a more comprehensive and competitive line-up. In late 2004, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn had big plans for the truck, but it didn’t quite work out, with Nissan capturing less than 1% of the American full-sized truck market in 2014. The new truck for MY2016 is the first major redesign of the Titan, meant to capture market shares – and truck-loving hearts – for Nissan.
